Here are 4 super quick and easy crochet covid gear patterns to help you get through this pandemic and use your skills to help folks feel safe.

2020 has definitely been the strangest year of my 30 years of life. And as we gear up for what back-to-school is going to look like, I thought a Crochet Sanitation Pattern Bundle would be something that would really come in handy.

This crochet pattern bundle includes instructions for a crochet keychain to hold your mask, Im calling this the Mask Sack. A crochet mask lanyard, crochet hand sanitizer keychain and an easy crochet Ear Savers design.

This post may contain affiliate links meaning I may receive a commission from purchases made at no extra charge to you.

All 4 of these things together would make a great gift box for kids going back to school this fall, but also for teachers and basically anyone who leaves their house on a regular basis.

All four pieces of the Crochet Sanatization Patterns bundle are made with Dishie Cotton yarn from WeCrochet. Hook sizes and accessories vary for each of the 4 designs so keep an eye on those changes when moving between projects.

The Dishie Cotton yarn I am using is originally in the color Fox, but I have recently been experimenting with bleach dying cotton yarns so mine looks a little different.

A tutorial for how to bleach dye cotton yarn is in the works!

You can find the full ad-free PDF bundle in my shop here for only 5.00.

Let’s start with the Mask Sack, it’s my favorite. Here’s what you will need.

Mask Sack Crochet Pattern

Start by leaving a long tail about 24″ long. Using your G hook. Chain 36.

Rows 2-5: SC 35. Ch 1, turn. (35)

For row 7, you will put SC stitches into the chain 2 stitches made in row 6. Just like they were stitches. This is creating your buttonhole.

Now we need to fold your rectangle.

To form the body of your Mask Sack, pair the first set of 13 stitches up with the next set of 13 stitches.

I like to put a stitch-marker in the 26th sc from the bottom (where the tails are) on both rows 11 and 1. Then I pair the first stitch in row 11 with the 26th stitch in row 11 and the same for row 1.

SC the first stitch in row 1 with the 26th stitch in row 1. Continue matching up the stitches and SC them together for 12 total SC. Place a SLST in the last stitch.

Tie off.

Pick up your long tail you left at the beginning of the pattern and SC the sides together just like you did for the other side.

Tie off and sew in your tails.

Flip your work right side out.

Sew your button onto the front of your piece about 3/4″ from the top. It should line up perfectly with the hole we created during row 6.

Pro tip: I like to mark the center of the hole with a pen to help line up the button.

Attach your keychain fixture in the corner of the folded flap area.

YO- Yarn Over

For this piece, we will be creating a fun textured crochet cord named the Romanian Cord.

If the instructions are a little confusing here is an excellent YouTube tutorial by Make and Do Crew.

Leave about a 10″ tail and Ch 2.

Step 1: SC in the first Ch. Turn your work.

Step 2: Looking at your work you should see a bar at the base of the “v” your stitch makes. Place a SC into that bar by inserting your hook from the top, YO, pull up a loop, YO, Pull through 2.

This completes your second SC.

Step 3: Turn your work and now you should see 2 bars at the base of the “v” made by your stitch. Place a SC into both bars by inserting your hook from the top, YO, pull up a loop, YO, Pull through 2.

Repeat step 3 until your cord is the desired length.

Cut your yarn and pull through to tie off.

Attach your lanyard hooks into the ends of both sides of your cord and secure with your tails. Sew in your tails and you’re finished!

Finished Size: 21 inches
