STITCH KEY (US TERMS)
SC = Single Crochet
CH = Chain
INC= Increase (Put two stitches in the same space. In this case, it will be two SC stitches.)
SL ST= Slip Stitch
*= To Be Repeated
SPECIAL STITCHES
Bobble: YO, Insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops on your hook Repeat 3 more times. Now you should have 5 loops on your hook. YO and pull through all 5 loops on your hook.
Back Bump: This is where you flip your starting chain over and insert your hook into the “back bump” of the chain and place your stitch there. If you are unfamiliar with this technique I would suggest watching this tutorial below by Fiber Flux on YouTube . You do not have to use this technique, you can just single crochet as you normally would, but I feel like the back bump technique is cleaner.

How to change colors
Work your SC as normal but stop right before finishing the stitch, with 2 loops on your hook. Pick up your next color and Pull it through the 2 loops on your hook, CH 1 and turn. Continue crocheting with your new color.

Instructions on how to make the black seeds for your crochet Watermelon Pillow.
Throughout the pattern, you will see instructions before each BOBBLE row telling you where to put a stitch marker to indicate which stitches should be black. The SC before the stitch marker will be where you change yarn colors.
The SC stitch right before your seed bobble is going to be the stitch where you change your yarn to black.
Using your red yarn, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, then pick up your black yarn, YO, pull through two.
Working over (carrying) your red yarn, complete the bobble stitch using your black yarn in the next stitch. Insert your hook into the next stitch, pull up a loop, then pick up your black yarn, YO, and pull through two.
Working over (carrying) your black yarn, insert your hook into the next stitch, grab your red yarn and pull up a loop, pull through both loops on your hook for a SC.
When you work over/carry your black yarn make sure you pull it towards the wrong side of the pillow so it’s not peeking out the front. Continue “Carrying” your black yarn along the row until you come to the next SC stitch before a seed bobble stitch, then repeat the steps above. You will want to make sure you pull your black yarn taut throughout the row so there’s no black peeking out where it should only be red. Once you get to the last “seed” in a row, you can cut your yarn leaving a tail for sewing in at the end.

Assembly
Now its time to join the front and back pieces of your crochet watermelon pillow!
Make sure to go through both the front and back pieces at the same time.
Start by sewing in all your tails.
Lay your two pieces together (good sides facing out) and attach your light green yarn into the rind section of your pillow right up next to the red.
SC 6 across, making sure to go through both the front and back pieces. Put 3 SC in the corner then continue with SC all the way around the green, making sure your stitches stay lined up. Put three SC in the other corner, then 6 SC across the front just like the opposite side.
On your last SC attach the red yarn.
SC across the red portion of the pillow until you have it about halfway closed. Sew in your new tails and stuff your pillow.
Once your pillow is stuffed continue closing it the rest of the way. Tie off and sew in your last tail.
Now give your watermelon a test squeeze because you’re all finished!!!! I hope you loved this pattern and you love your finished crochet Watermelon Pillow!
