Exactly one year ago, I was inspired by my daughters’ matching floral pajamas. I couldn’t stop thinking about the fun daisy design, and I ended up turning it into a crocheted purse that my girls could use to carry around their little trinkets.
Turns out, I still haven’t stopped thinking about that daisy design. This quick pouch is going to be a summer staple! Or better yet, an all-year-round staple as a crochet pouch? Yes, please!
The MDK Sunnies Pouch (or crochet hook pouch) is worked with a chain to start then moves into working continuous rounds.
This means you will not join at the end of each round.
I used a flex frame for the closure, but you can choose to add a drawstring closure for simplicity.
You can also substitute the rewind yarn for #4 weight yarn. If you substitute the yarn, you may need to add or take away stitches from the starting chain to get the correct width & add or take away rows to adjust the height.
Also, keep in mind that the type of yarn you choose may not be suitable for an iron-on patch. Gluing or sewing it on may be easier OR you can go a totally different route and embroider on the front!
The possibilities are endless to customize your pouch!

Round 2: sc in each st around (27)
Round 3-25: repeat round 2 (27)

Fasten off & weave in the ends. Next, make the strap!
STRAP:
Chain 60
Row 1: starting in the second ch from your hook, sl st in the back bums of each ch (59)
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Finishing steps for the drawstring closure:
- Weave strap through each skipped st of round 26
- Pull the end of your strap to even out the ends and pull tight to close.
Finishing Steps for attaching the flex frame:
Continue to sc around the top of the pouch until you end at one of the corners. Fasten off and leave a 36” tail for attaching the flex frame.
Open the flex frame and position the frame at the top of your pouch.
Starting on the side of the pouch that is facing you, use the yarn needle to wrap the yarn around the first side of the flex frame and through each sc stitch (I go into each stitch 2 times to completely cover the frame)
When you have reached the end of the flex frame and the flex frame is completely covered insert the pin into the flex frame to close it. Cut the yarn, secure it, and weave in the ends.
Iron on, sew or glue your patch on! Enjoy!
