Crochet Pumpkin Instructions

This pumpkin is worked in a flat rectangle. I’ve included photos to help with the finishing section of the pattern.

Dimensions when laid flat: 10 inches wide x 4.75 inches tall

Solid Pumpkin

Ch 18

Row 1: Skip the first chain, sc down the chain 17 times. Ch 1 and turn.

Row 2: Sc in the blo 17 times. Ch 1 and turn

Row 3-4: Sl stitch loosely in the blo 17 times. Ch 1 and turn.

Repeat rows 1-4  10 times for a total of 40 rows.

Striped Pumpkin:

Start with the MC and change the color of the yarn every other sequence of the pattern (rows 1-4). You will have five stripes of each color. Five in the MC and five in the CC.

Finishing:

Fold your work in half on the wrong side and slip stitch together in the blo.

Cut an 18 inch tail. Weave in all ends.

Turn right side out. Using your yarn needle, stitch a running stitch all the way around and pull to close. This is the bottom of your pumpkin.

Make a secure stitch then pull yarn through the center towards what now is the top of your pumpkin.

Stitch a running stitch all the way around.

Stuff Polyfil and close the top leaving a small opening for your cinnamon stick.

Pull your yarn down to the bottom and back to the top a few times always coming back to the center of the pumpkin. This will help create that pumpkin shape. Secure and fasten off.

Add the cinnamon stick and ta da. You’ve made a pumpkin.
