Learn how to easily take high-quality photos and videos by following these three simple tips for crochet business owners.
If you sell crochet products online you know how important high-quality videos and photos are. When customers are shopping digitally they can’t physically pick up and feel your squishy crochet pieces, so you have to do that for them through video.
Your videos and photos will show the world the quality of your pieces. If you have low-quality photos/videos, your products will look low-quality.
Here are three easy tips to help you be more efficient when taking photos and videos for your crochet business using an iPhone.
Here is a short 10-minute video showing you all the things I mentioned in this post.
Tip 1: Mirror your phone screen to your computer screen
This tip is specifically for my fellow Apple users. You can mirror Apple products onto one another. For example, you can mirror your iPhone onto your Mac and see everything happening on your phone, on your Mac.
I use this method when taking videos or photos of myself. That way I can see if things are lined up properly or if something happens like my phone shuts off.
I show how to do this in the video linked above.
Tip 2: Video and screen grabs
Taking photos of yourself is exhausting. You have to constantly run back and forth to your phone to reset the timer, or use a Bluetooth remote and be strategic with your hand placement.
Instead of all that trouble try this method. Set your phone up on a tripod, turn it on cinematic mode, then start recording yourself like you’re doing a photo shoot.
Pause and pose as much as you’d like. Then after you’re finished, go through the footage and screenshot all the poses you liked best.
This saves so much time. You can also move your tripod around and repeat so you can get different angles.
Tip 3: Copy and Paste edits in the Photos app
This tip literally changed my life. I was so excited when I figured this out. When you’re editing in Lightroom or other fancy photo editing apps you can create things called Presets. These are specific edits you use across multiple photos.
I like to use the Photos app that came on my Mac to edit my photos and there’s not currently a way to create and save presents.
What you CAN do is copy and paste your edits from one photo to the next. This is such a time saver. Again, I show how to do this in the video linked at the top of this post.
This trick will save you so much time when you are taking product photos for your Etsy shop and social media posts.
Those are my three simple tips for crochet business owners to help you be more efficient when taking photos or videos in your crochet business. You can find all the tools I use linked in my Amazon shop. I hope you found these tips helpful and that they take your photos/videos to the next level.
