Follow this free crochet pattern to learn how to make an amazing crochet bobble blanket. Easy crochet blanket pattern for beginners.

This crochet pattern was inspired by my original Crafty Boho Bobble Blanket pattern I released back in 2020.

For the original, I used Mighty Stitch Super Bulky Yarn from WeCrochet. I wanted to recreate the pattern using worsted weight. This time I used Yarn bee soft and sleek and I am obsessed with how it turned out.
I still kept the furry trim though, I’m a sucker for faux fur yarn.
This crochet bobble blanket is perfect for beginners. Below is a full video tutorial, you can watch if you’re confused, where I explain everything in detail. I even go over a few design decisions so you can learn why I made it the way I did.
If viewing online patterns isn’t your jam you can purchase the ad-free PDF download here.

I created a sizing chart to help you quickly see how to make the different sizes. Of course you’re welcome to make your own size by changing the number of stitches or rows, or even by changing your yarn and hook size.

This chart is also available in the paid PDF linked above.
For this post, I am showing the instructions for how to make the throw size. If you want to make one of the other sizes, please reference the chart above.
I included step-by-step instructions for each of the 4 sizes in the paid PDF.
The pictures used in the pattern are just of a swatch, not the entire throw.
Here’s what you will need to make your own crochet bobble blanket.

Materials
– Approximately 75oz of worsted-weight yarn
– Approximately 7oz of Red Heart Hygge fur yarn
– J 6.0mm Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
– 4 Stitch Markers
– Scissors
*I have linked the supplies I used in the materials section above.
Here are some potential fur yarn substitutions if you can’t find Red Heart Hygge Fur. Baby Bear Yarn, Bernat Pipsqueak Yarn, and Premier Yarns Little Bunny.

STITCH KEY (US TERMS)
SC = Single Crochet
CH = Chain
BS= Bobble Stitch (explained below)
HDC= Half Double Crochet
YO = Yarn Over
* to be repeated
SPECIAL STITCHES
Bobble (BS): *yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on your hook* Repeat 3 more times. Now you should have 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on your hook. (do not chain after this, just go straight into your next stitch)
HDC in the Camel Hump: Stitch is just a regular half-double crochet, the only difference is the placement of the stitch. I’ll do my best to explain this here in the pattern but it’s probably explained best in the video that goes with this post.
Gauge: 15 stitches by 15 rows following this pattern = 4.25″ by 6.5″ rectangle.
Crochet Bobble Blanket Pattern
Make a slip knot and chain 176
Pro Tip: If you want to adjust the size of your blanket, make sure your starting chain is an even number.
Row 1: Skip the ch closest to your hook and HDC 175 in the back bump of your chain. Ch 1, turn. (175)
Row 2: HDC in the camel hump of each stitch. Ch 1, turn. (175)

Row 3: HDC in the camel hump of each stitch. Ch 1, turn. (175)
Row 4: SC, BOBBLE* all the way down your work. End with a SC. (175)

That is our repeat for the whole blanket. Continue to repeat rows 1-4 until you have 175 total rows. You will end with 3 HDC rows, leaving off the last bobble row of the repeat.
Row 5 is a repeat of row 1 but this time we’re working into our blanket instead of into our starting chain. This is just a regular row of HDC. Not a camel hump row.
After row 175 you can tie off.

Crochet Bobble Blanket Border
After you complete the body of your blanket, it’s time to create the border.
Insert your hook into the last stitch from row 175 and join your fur yarn. This does not count as a stitch.
We will be working down the left side of our blanket. This is the raw side of our stitches meaning we will have to find our own places for our stitches to go.

You should have 5 SC stitches across each set of repeat rows. The 5th sc should line up with the bobble stitch in the adjacent row.

Row 1: Begin SC down the left side of your blanket. The last three rows are HDC rows, without the bobble row. You’ll just put 4 stitches across those rows.
You should have 219 total stitches.
Once you get to the end, place 3 SC in the first stitch of the bottom row.

This is now our corner. Put a stitch marker in the middle of the three SC’s. For the second row of the border, that is where you will put the next 3 SC bunch.
SC 173 across the bottom of your blanket.
The last open stitch on that side will be our second corner. Place 3 SC there and insert a stitch marker in the middle of the three stitches. That is where the second corner stitches will go for row 2 of our border.
SC 219 up the right side of your blanket, just like you did on the left side. Making sure you put 5 stitches across the span of 4 rows with the 5th stitch lining up with a bobble row.
Once you reach the first stitch on the top side of the blanket, place your 3 SC corner stitches there. Put a stitch marker in the middle of the 3 sc’s to mark your corner stitch for row 2 of the border.
SC 173 across the top of your blanket. You should have one open stitch left. Place your 3 SC corner stitches there. Don’t forget to mark the middle SC with your stitch marker.
Join into the top of your first border SC. Ch 1. (346)

Row 2: SC down the left side of your blanket until you reach your stitch marker.
Put 3 SC where your stitch marker was and move your stitch marker up so it is now in the middle of the new cluster of 3 SC stitches. That will be your corner spot for row 3.
SC across the bottom of your blanket until you reach the next stitch marker.
Put 3 SC where your stitch marker was and move your stitch marker up so it is now in the middle of the new cluster of 3 SC stitches. That will be your corner spot for row 3.
SC up the right side of your blanket until you reach the next stitch marker.
Put 3 SC where your stitch marker was and move your stitch marker up so it is now in the middle of the new cluster of 3 SC stitches. That will be your corner spot for row 3.
SC across the top of your blanket until you reach the last stitch marker.
Put 3 SC where your stitch marker was and move your stitch marker up so it is now in the middle of the new cluster of 3 SC stitches. That will be your corner spot for row 3.
There should be one space left. This space belongs to the left side’s count. Place a SC there then join into the top of your first SC. Ch 1. (354)
Row 3: SC down the left side of your blanket until you reach your stitch marker.
Put 3 SC where your stitch marker was. If you want to do another row of border, move your stitch marker up so it is now in the middle of the new cluster of 3 SC stitches. That will be your corner spot for row 4.
We will not be adding a row 4 for this pattern.
SC across the bottom of your blanket until you reach the next stitch marker.
Put 3 SC where your stitch marker was.
SC up the right side of your blanket until you reach the next stitch marker.
Put 3 SC where your stitch marker was.
SC across the top of your blanket until you reach the last stitch marker.
Put 3 SC where your stitch marker was.
There should be two spaces left. These spaces belong to the left side’s count. Place a SC in each then join into the top of your first SC. Ch 1. (362)
Tie off and sew in your tails.

Now you have a squishy textured crochet bobble blanket that will add cozy vibes to any room in the house!
