Before You Start ????????????????????????

  • This crochet slipper pattern includes 9 sizes- Toddler, Child S-XL, Adult S-L and Mens. View the chart below for size comparison and dimensions.
  • If you need to make half sizes (like bigger than a small but smaller than a medium) just go up to an 8mm hook size.
  • If you need to make a “wide” version, just repeat the last row in the sole portion, this will make the sides taller and it will stretch further for wider feet.
  • The slippers WILL STRETCH… so if you make it and it’s tight when you first put it on, walk around for about 20 minutes and it will stretch out significantly.
  • They are machine washable, but if you put fabric puffy paint on the bottoms to keep them from being slippery, you will need to wash them inside out and lay flat to dry.
  • I will be making a kid’s Extra Large size for this tutorial, all other sizes will be linked at the end for quicker loading times.
  • Other sizes will not be photographed (that would take me literally 100000 years) – Refer to this size’s photos for reference.

Materials

7mm Crochet Hook
Bernat Blanket Yarn
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
Puffy Paint – This is optional if you want to make your Boho Bobble Slippers slip proof.

Stitch Key (US Terms)

CH = Chain
SC = Single Crochet
INC= Increase (Put two stitches in the same space. In this case, it will be two SC stitches.)
DEC= Decrease (turn two stitches into one. In this case, it will be two SC stitches. Explained under special stitches)
SL ST= Slip Stitch
*= To Be Repeated

Special Stitches

Modified Bobble: *YO, Insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops on your hook* Repeat 2 more times. Now you should have 4 loops on your hook. YO and pull through all 4 loops on your hook.

Back Bump: This is where you flip your starting chain over and insert your hook into the “back bump” of the chain and place your stitch there. If you are unfamiliar with this technique I would suggest watching this tutorial below by Fiber Flux on YouTube.

Invisible Decrease: Insert your hook into the front loop of your first stitch, insert your hook into the front loop of your second stitch, pull up a loop. YO, pull through both loops on your hook.

When you go to print the Sizing PDF (the colorful one) you will need to make sure it’s printed TRUE TO SIZE and doesn’t get compressed at all. The Red sole shape should measure 5.5″ when printed.

Tip: This would be a good resource for you to take to craft shows and markets so your customers can be sure they size they order is the correct size!

If you print at Office Depot they will be able to do that for you! Just make sure you tell them it needs to be true to size.

Boho Bobble Bootie | Size Kids XL

Note: I wear a child size 3 in shoes and my foot is about 8.5inches tall. This is the size slipper that fits me.

Sole

Row 1: Make a slip knot and chain 16

Starting in the back bump CLOSEST to your hook, SC 15

SC 6 in the last back bump space

SC 15 back up the opposite side of the starting chain. CH 1, turn your work. (36)

Row 2: SC 15, INC in the next 6 stitches, SC 15. CH 1, turn your work (42)

Row 3: SC 42- Do not CH 1 at the end of this row.

Heel

SC 3 across the edge of your sole. Your first SC will go in the same stitch where you just SC your 42nd stitch in row 3. For the other two, you will need to create your own spaces since its on the raw edge of your work.

Fold your sole in half (in on its-self), hot dog style. Insert your hook into the last SC you just made and then insert your hook into the raw side of the heel that doesn’t have any SC’s yet. Slip Stitch to join them together.

Slip Stitch in the last two SC stitchs on the heel, lining them up and joining them to the exposed raw side of the heel until its completely joined. CH 1.

Flip your sole so your SS seem is on the inside. SC 42 around in the back loops only. Join into your first SC. CH 1. Do not turn your work.

SC 42. CH 1. (To make a wide version, repeat this row)

Set this aside and grab the other end of your skein to start making the top of your bootie.

Note: I like working from both ends of the skein so I don’t waste any yarn or lose at yarn chicken by underestimating how much yarn I will need.

Top

Make a slip knot and Chain 10.

Row 1: Starting in the back bump CLOSEST to your hook, SC 9.

SC 6 in the last ch space.

SC 9 back up the opposite side of the chain. CH 1, turn your work. (24)

Row 2: *SC, BOBBLE* around. End with SC SC instead of SC BOBBLE so we don’t end the row on a bobble stitch. CH 1, Turn. (24)

Note: Do not chain after completing your bobble stitch, just go directly into your SC.

TIP: Give your working yarn a tug before you complete your SC, this will help tighten up the bobble stitch and make it pop out more.

Row 3: SC 9, INC in the next 6 stitches, SC 9 (30) Do not chain or turn.

Put TWO SC in the same stitch as your 30th SC from row 3.

SC 3 across the raw edge of your work, you will have to make your own spots again.

SC 2 in the last spot. Join to the first SC in row 3 but DO NOT CHAIN. (7)

Assembly

You will need to center your top piece onto your bottom piece. Your top piece has 30 SC and the Bottom has 42.

Insert your hook into the Back Loop of the first stitch in row 3 of the top piece. (where you just slip stitched without chaining)

Now insert your hook into the Front Loop of the 7th stitch from the end on the right side of the slipper bottom. (So count up 6 from the chain and insert your hook into the 7th stitch) and place a SC.

Tip: If this is confusing please refer to the 27:30 mark in the video tutorial

Continue to SC in the Back Loop of the top piece and the Front Loop of the bottom piece, joining them together. (30)

Slip Stitch in the same stitch as your 30th SC – this time going under BOTH loops of both the top and bottom stitchs. Cut your yarn and tie off.

Ankle

Insert your hook back into the CH 1 we left available on the bottom piece of the slipper.

Round 1: SC 6, SC 1 into the same stitch you just tied off for the top piece, SC 8 across the edge of the top, SC 1 in the stitch where you first started assembling, SC 6. Join into the top of your first SC. CH 1. (22)

Round 2: SC 6, DEC over the next two stitches, SC 6, DEC over the next two stitches, SC 6. Join into the top of your first SC. CH 1. (20)

Round 3: SC 20. Join into the top of your first SC. Tie off.

Tip: If your ankle section is too big for your ankle you can add two more decreases (on top of the previous decreases) in Round 3 for a total of 18 stitches.

Flip your crochet slipper inside out to sew in all your tails using a tapestry needle (hiding them on the inside of your slipper). Then flip it right side out again after your tails are sewn in and you’re all finished!!

If you want to make your crochet slippers slip-proof you can use Fabric Puffy Paint and put dots on the bottom of your sole.

They are still machine washable with the slip proofing on them, but you will need to wash them inside out and lay flat to dry. Let the paint fully dry for 72 hours before washing.
