Making Bitty Boho Bags  are kind of addicting! They  work up so quickly and are a great stash buster! They’re also fun to make because there’s so many different things you can do to mix up the pattern, like adding different trim options.

I wanted to share with you guys a few different trim options I’ve been playing around with, and how to do them on your Bitty Boho Bags.

???? TASSELS ????

Let’s start with the tassel trim. The original Bitty Boho Bag pattern includes instructions on how to make and attach fringe to the bottom of the bag. These tassels are done using  a similar technique.

Using a template (I use an empty skittles box) wrap your yarn around and around until you get a good amount of yarn wrapped around your template. Tip: you may want to make your strips longer than you normally would to give you plenty of room for attaching. You can always trim them after.

Cut your yarn

Now we have a bunch of yarn strips all cut about the same length. Gather 4 strands of your yarn (if you want a bigger tassel you can gather more yarn, smaller tassel, less)

Insert your crochet hook (I’m using a G hook), into the back of the stitch where you want to put your first tassel. Grab your bunch of yarn, and pull through. Adjust the bunch so it’s centered on the stitch.

Now tie a knot with all the strands of yarn at the same time (like you would tie a water balloon). That completes your first tassel. Repeat until you have your desired amount of tassels. Trim if necessary.

???? POM POM ????

This next trim idea is my favorite; POM POM TRIM!! I love pom-pom anything so trim on a Bitty Boho Bag is a must!

To create the pom-pom trim you are going to need a crochet hook; the smaller the better. I am using a Susan Bates F hook made by HeartSprinkle on Etsy.

Attach your yarn to your Bitty Boho Bag, just under the strap, and CH 1. SC in that same space.

CH 5

In the 3rd chain from your hook, YO, insert hook and pull up a loop. YO and pull through 2. You now have 2 loops on your hook. YO, insert hook back into the same stitch and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2. You now have 3 loops on your hook. YO, insert hook back into the same stitch and  pull up a loop. YO and pull through 2. You now have 4 loops on your hook. YO and pull through all 4 loops.

CH 3. YO, insert your hook into the first CH (on  the top of your cluster you just made). YO and pull up a loop. CH 1.

Insert your hook into the same stitch as the bottom of the first cluster and SL ST. CH 2, skip 3 stitches and SC in the next stitch. Your first pom!!

Repeat all the way around until you reach the other end of your strap. ( 10 poms total)

sew in your loose ends and you’re finished!

???? SCALLOPED ????

The last trim option I want to show you in this post is just a simple scalloped trim.

Using a G hook, attach your yarn to your Bitty Boho Bag, just under the strap, and CH 1. SL ST in that same space.

Skip one stitch, DBL 7 in the next stitch, Skip 2 stitches, SL ST in the next stitch.

Skip 2 stitches, DBL 7 in the next stitch, Skip 2 stitches, SL ST in the next stitch. Repeat 6 more times. On the last one only skip one stitch before  your last SL ST

Sew in your loose ends and you’re finished!

Which trim is your favorite? Comment and let me know! I’m curious to see which one everyone likes best.
