This month create a Mother’s Day gift guide to send out to your audience. Show them all the things you sell and tell them why each thing would make a great Mother’s Day gift.

Mother’s Day gift pattern suggestions are on page 17.

Up Next

Next month is Mother’s Day, Cinco de Mayo Memorial Day. Teacher Appreciation day is May 2nd so promote gifts this month to give yourself time to make them!

Calendar Section

On the next page of the content calendar, you will have an overview of April, and at the bottom of the page, there are some more sections. Let’s take a look at…

  • National Alcohol Awareness Month
  • National Autism Awareness Month
  • National Decorating Month
  • Lawn and Garden Month
  • Sexual Assault Awareness Month
  • National Child Abuse Awareness Month

If any of these stand out to you as something your ideal customer would be celebrating or participating in, make notes of ways you can promote them!

Be sure to make it specific to your ideal customer!

Holidays

April 1st: April Fool’s Day – April Fool’s Day is so much fun, but let me give you a little pro tip – avoid joking that you’re going out of business! While it may seem like a harmless prank, some people might miss the joke and think it’s for real. You wouldn’t want to lose followers or customers because of a misunderstanding, right? So, let’s keep the jokes light-hearted and keep the laughter coming!

April 1st: National Handmade Day – Everything we make is handmade! So, why not celebrate National Handmade Day by taking a picture of your beautiful creations and sharing it with the world? Share your passion for crochet and let your customers know how much you love making these amazing products by hand. It’s truly magical how a skein of yarn and a crochet hook can be transformed into something incredible. Go spread some handmade love on this day!

April 5th: Passover

April 7th: Good Friday

April 9th: Easter – If you have any bunny or Easter-related products be sure to post about them on the 9th!

April 10th: National Siblings Day – This would be a great day to share a “Get to know me post”. You can share memories you have with your siblings, or share what it was like being an only child! This might not be a good post to relate to your products, but it would make a good post for your ideal customer to get to know you better. We buy things from people we like 😉

April 11th: National Pet Day – This is an easy one! Share about your pets! Share a photo of your cat wrapped up in a ball of yarn. Share a photo of your dog wearing one of your handmade beanies!

April 12: National Grilled Cheese Day – If you sell amigurumi food, this is your chance to shine! National Grilled Cheese Day is the perfect opportunity to show off your creativity and come up with some fun and delicious grilled cheese-themed products. You could even share a photo of one of your amazing products alongside a real grilled cheese sandwich and tell your customers all about your favorite way to enjoy this cheesy goodness. Whether you like it fancy or with a side of soup, don’t be afraid to get creative and have fun with it!

April 14th: Coachella Starts – If you sell crop tops, it’s time to get festival-ready! Whether it’s Coachella or any other music festival, your crop tops are the perfect accessory for a stylish and comfortable look. So, why not show off your amazing products and how they’re the ultimate festival wear? You could even encourage your customers to share photos of themselves wearing your crop tops at festivals – it’s a great way to showcase your products and engage with your audience.

April 20th: Get to know your Customer Day – This is the perfect day to connect with your customers and get to know them better. Why not ask them a fun and specific question like “What’s your favorite flower now that spring has sprung?” This is a great way to spark some conversation and show your customers that you care about their opinions. And remember, it’s best to avoid open-ended questions like “Tell me something about yourself” – the easier the question, the more likely your customers are to engage with you and share their thoughts.

April 22nd: Earth Day – If you make and sell products that are “Green” you can share a photo or video of you making one of those items and share how they are great for the Earth!

April 23rd: National Picnic Day – This is another great one if you sell amigurumi food! If you are looking for some great amigurumi food patterns I recommend the Crochet Cafe Book.

April 28th: Arbor Day – If you are participating in any Arbor Day events in your town, today is a great day to post about it. Especially if you sell eco-conscious things like Crafty Facial Rounds! If nature has anything to do with your brand, you can share about it today.

Walnut (85g)

Linen (1g)

Desert Glaze (6g per carrot)

Mid Green (4g per carrot/5g for garland string)

Stitch Key (US Terms)

Rnd – round

chX – chain X amount of stitches

MR – magic adjustable ring

st(s) – stitch(es)

sl st – slip stitch

sc – single crochet

inc – 2sc in the same stitch

dec – invisible decrease (I have a tutorial on the invisible decrease under the “Tips & Tricks” Highlight on my Instagram.)

FLO – front loop only

FO – fasten off

Gauge

There is no specific gauge for amigurumi. You can use any yarn you would like, as long as you have a corresponding hook size. I always size down around 2 whole sizes for what the particular yarn calls for.

For example, I am using a worsted weight 4 yarn, that calls for a 5.5mm hook. I have sized down to a 3.25mm hook to create a tight fabric that will hold its shape when it is stuffed but won’t stretch out the stitches.

You do not want to stretch your amigurumi to where you can see the filling. If you are having a hard time with this, it might be because your stitches are too loose, you need to size down your hook further.

Turnip and the carrots are made in continuous rounds. Take care to always move up the stitch marker to the last stitch, at the end of each round. Stitch count is in ( ) at the end of each row. Make sure to have the correct number of stitches before moving on to the next round.

I know for many people, change can be difficult. I know this to be true because I am one of those people! A little more than a year ago, I went through a major life change. I went from working away from home at a job that I adored to becoming a stay-at-home mom to pursue my maker side-gig.

At first, this change was so hard! Then as I worked on building my business, I found so many amazing people in the crochet community. Each one of these new friends was like a beautiful flower blooming on a fresh spring morning. Change was happening in my life, and it was BEAUTIFUL!

This free crochet bunny pattern is the perfect easy amigurumi crochet pattern for beginners. Each step is explained in detail and there’s a full video tutorial as well!

I am feeling all kinds of emotions right now while writing up this blog post. Today I am releasing the one that started it all – the Ava Bunny.

This free Crochet Rabbit Pattern is the perfect easy amigurumi crochet pattern for beginners. Each step is explained in detail and there's a full video tutorial as well!

I created this little crochet bunny pattern about this time of year, 4 years ago! I wanted to make something special for my brand-new baby girl’s first Easter basket. Cue the waterworks.

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

I remember messaging Vincent of Knot.Bad for his opinion on the design becuase I knew he made a lot of amigurumi. This is what I sent him lol …

We went with number 6.

This free crochet bunny pattern is the perfect easy amigurumi bunny crochet pattern for beginners. Each step is explained in detail.

I quickly became obsessed with making Ava Bunnies (named after my daughter if you didn’t make that connection just yet) and since Easter was right around the corner I thought I could easily market them to my mama friends!

This free crochet bunny pattern is the perfect easy amigurumi bunny crochet pattern for beginners. Each step is explained in detail.

Fast forward to summer 2016 and that is when I took the Ava Bunny, and a few more stuffie designs and opened my Etsy shop!

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

Creating the Ava Bunny and FINALLY (after debating with myself for 4 years) opening an Etsy shop was a huge turning point for me and for A Crafty Concept, that is where everything started and I couldn’t be more grateful!

Disclaimer- I do plan on releasing other stuffy designs throughout the year as well. Currently, we have the Mia Moo Moo, Issac Lion and Doxie Chicken patterns live.

I hope you guys love this free crochet bunny pattern. It is a very very basic amigurumi design, perfect for beginners and great for selling in your shops since it doesn’t take very long (for an ami) to make.

I have learned A LOT over the past 4 years so the finished Ava Bunny design may look a tad different to the trained eye.

Here’s what you will need to make your own Ava Bunny and start preparing for Easter basket sales!

Amigurumi is not my specialty and I am much better at explaining things through video. You can watch the free crochet bunny pattern full video tutorial here.

I go over every step in this video so it’s a little over an hour long, but I time-stamped each section so you can easily skip to the part you need to watch.

MATERIALS (WITH CLICKABLE LINKS)

– F (3.75) Crochet Hook
Scissors
– 2 colors of worsted weight yarn. One for the main body color and one for your stripes. You’ll also need about 12 inches of black yarn for the mouth.
15mm Safety Eyes
Tapestry Needle
Safety Nose
– 4 Sewing Pins
Polyfil

*I have linked most of the supplies I used in the materials section above.

STITCH KEY (US TERMS)

CH- Chain
SC- Single Crochet
INC- Increase (in this case- 2 SC in the same stitch)
DEC- Decrease, in this case, invisible decrease (explained below)
SLST- Slip Stitch
* To be repeated

SPECIAL STITCHES

  • Magic Circle –We will be using the Magic Circle method for this free crochet bunny pattern. If you are unfamiliar with this technique be sure to check out the video that goes with this pattern.
  • Invisible Decrease – invisible single crochet decrease – insert hook into front loop of next stitch, then insert your hook into the front loop of the following stitch (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and draw through 2 loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 2 remaining loops on hook.
  • Continuous Rounds – This pattern is worked in continuous rounds without joining. After you finish the stitches of one round, start right on the next without joining between. I find it handy to use a stitch marker (or a piece of yarn) to mark the start of each round so you know when each round starts/ends.
  • Color Changes – change colors at the end of the round. Complete last single crochet of the round until the last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and pull through last step of the single crochet. So your single crochet will go like this: insert hook into last stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over with new color, pull through both loops on hook.

BEFORE YOU START– IMPORTANT

If you do plan on selling these cuties in your shop (either online or at markets), and I hope you do, I would include a warning that it is made with small pieces, and children under 3 should be supervised when playing with them.

The safety eyes and safety noses are in there REALLY GOOD and they’re super hard to pull apart after you snap them shut, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Alternatively, if you would rather stitch on the eyes and nose of your Ava Bunny here is a nose tutorial I did for my kitty bag pattern, and here is a cute embroidered eye tutorial from Grace and Yarn

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern: The Ava Bunny

Starting with your first leg and using your body color worsted weight yarn

Round 1: SC 6 into magic circle (6)

Round 2: INC in each stitch around (12)

Round 3: INC, SC* around 6 times (18)

Round 4: INC, SC, SC* around 6 times (24)

Rounds 5-13: SC in each stitch around (24)

SLST into the next space and tie off.

Repeat rounds 1-13 for your second leg, but do not cut your yarn and tie off.

Sew in your tails you made when starting each foot.

We are going to start Round 14 working on the second leg- this will be the first round of our bunny body.

For extra help skip to the 10:55 mark in the video that goes with this post

Round 14: SC 24

Grab your first leg and place a SLST in the SLST from where you tied off in Round 13 of leg 1.

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

SC in the same space where you SLST to tie off Round 13 from leg 1.

So you are slip stitching into a slip stitch- then putting a single crochet into the same space where the original slip stitch was. If this is confusing please refer to the 22-minute mark in the video that goes with this pattern.

This is the best way I could get it where there wasn’t a hole between the two legs that would have to be stitched closed. If you prefer to stitch up a small hole that’s totally fine. The main thing is round 14 has 48 stitches total, 24sc for the first leg and 24sc for the second leg.

SC 23 more times around the leg. (48 stitches total in Round 14)

SLST into the same space as your 24th sc from Round 13 on leg 2. None of the slip stitches count as a stitch, they’re just creating the desired shape of our bunny.

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

Round 15-16: SC around (48)

Switch to your second color when finishing the last sc in Round 16. This is explained under “special stitches” above

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

Round 17: With your second yarn color, SC 48. Finish the 48th stitch by switching back to your main body color.

Using your main body color.

Round 18: SC 48. Finish the 48th stitch by switching back to your second color.

Using your second color.

Round 19: SC 48. Finish the 48th stitch by switching back to your main body color.

Using your main body color.

Round 20: SC 48. Finish the 48th stitch by switching back to your second color.

Using your second color.

Round 21: SC 48. Finish the 48th stitch by switching back to your main body color.

You will use your main body color for the rest of your bunny body. You can cut your second color yarn. Leave a tail for sewing in with a tapestry needle.

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

Rounds 22-31 SC 48 around.

This free crochet bunny pattern is the perfect easy amigurumi bunny crochet pattern for beginners. Each step is explained in detail.

Before we start our decreases we’re gonna do a few things. Pull up a big loop from your working yarn so you don’t accidentally pull out any stitches.

Sew in all your tails using a tapestry needle. (I show how I do this on the video that goes with this pattern)

Stuff the bottom half of your bunny with polyfill.

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

Find the center of your bunny face and stitch on the mouth with a tapestry needle and a scrap piece of black yarn (about 12 inches is plenty)

Tip: I like to use a piece of yarn to find the center of my bunny.

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

To see this step on video skip to the 24:20 mark in the video that goes with this post linked at the top.

I like to put the bottom tip of my mouth in Round 22, the top tip in Round 25 and the two smile tips in Round 23.

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

Now attach your bunny nose in between Rounds 25 and 26, right on top of the mouth.

Position the Eyes centered above the nose and between Rounds 27 and 28. I usually have about 3 stitches between my eyes.

This free crochet bunny pattern is the perfect easy amigurumi bunny crochet pattern for beginners. Each step is explained in detail.

Ok back to our bunny body!

Insert your hook back into the loop you left up and begin Round 32.

Round 32: SC 6, DEC* around 6 times (42) – remember I prefer the invisible decrease method here for a cleaner look

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

Round 33: SC 5, DEC* around 6 times (36)

Round 34: SC 4, DEC* around 6 times (30)

This free crochet bunny pattern is the perfect easy amigurumi bunny crochet pattern for beginners. Each step is explained in detail.

Round 35: SC 3, DEC* around 6 times (24)

Round 36: SC 2, DEC* around 6 times (18)

Add any more stuffing if necessary.

Round 37: SC 1, DEC* around 6 times (12)

Round 38: DEC around 6 times (6) Cut your yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

Thread your tail onto a tapestry needle and close the top of your bunny by picking up the front loop of every stitch and pulling your tail through all the loops. (I show how to do this in the video that goes with this pattern)

Finish sewing in your tail.

Attaching Ears

Using your sewing pins, mark off where you want to attach the ears. I like to use the rows as a guide here.

Free Crochet Bunny Pattern by A Crafty Concept

Thread your tail onto a tapestry needle and begin sewing each ear on by inserting your needle into the body of the bunny then into the bottom of the ear.

Once your ear is completely attached, tie off and sew in your tail.

Repeat for both ears.

Stitch Key (US Terms)
CH= Chain
SC= Single Crochet
INC= Increase (put two stitches in the same space. In this case, single crochet stitches)

Outer Ears | Make two
With your Bernat Blanket yarn and 7mm crochet hook

Row 1: Make a slip knot and CH 7

Starting in the back bump CLOSEST to your hook, SC 6 (in the back bumps).

SC 5 in the last back bump space

SC 6 back up the opposite side of the starting chain.

Tie off leaving a long tail for attaching to your slipper. Sew in your first tail.

Inner Ears | Make two
With your worsted weight yarn and 5.0mm crochet hook

Row 1: Make a slip knot and CH 10.

Skip the first back bump closes to your hook and SC 8 (in the back bump).

SC 5 in the last back bump space

SC 8 back up the opposite side of the starting chain.

Tie off leaving a long tail for attaching to your outer ear piece. Sew in your first tail.

Ear Assembly
Line up your inner ear piece and center it onto your outer ear piece, wrong sides touching.

Pro tip: You can use a binder clip to hold your pieces together while you work.

Thread your worsted weight tail onto a tapestry needle and whip stitch your inner ear piece onto your outer ear piece.

This can be a little tricky since the Bernat Blanket yarn doesn’t have any fibers you can stick your needle through.

You have to make sure you are going under the yarn and not just through the fuzzy bits. If you are having trouble with this you can watch the video here and skip to 9:05 mark.

Sew in your tail.

Attaching Ears to Slippers

Hold your assembled ears up onto your slipper so you can get a good idea of how/where you want to attach them.

Thread your Bernat Blanket yarn tail onto your tapestry needle and begin to sew the ear onto the slipper.

Pom Pom
Using your small clover pom pom maker and your pink worsted weight yarn, make a tiny little pom pom tail for your bunny slipper.

Pull the pom pom tails into the slipper from the outside, secure with a knot, then sew them into the slipper.

Tip: If you want the slippers to be machine washable just attach your pom pom with a bow so it can be removed for washing.

There you have it! A super cute little bunny slipper that’s perfect for spring, Easter, or any time of year really ????

I hope you love this pattern mod! If you post any pics please tag me @ACraftyConcept, I would LOVE to see how cute your bunny slippers turned out!! As always thank you so much for supporting my business and allowing me to do what I love every single day!!

Happy Crocheting
