Bulky Rustic Placemat Materials

Hook:
9mm Size N hook
Yarn:
106 yards of weight 6 super bulky yarn (recommended Wool Ease Thick and Quick)
Other:
4 20mm wood beads (optional)
Tapestry needle
Scissors

Stitch Key (US Terms)

  • Chain (CH)
  • Single Crochet (SC)
  • Double Crochet (DC)
  • Half Double Crochet (HDC)

Special Stitches:

V-stitch (V-Stitch)= DC in a stitch, CH 1, DC in the same stitch

Gauge

2” by 2” = 4 SC across, 3 SC rows

Finished Measurements:

11.5” by 16”

Notes:

This pattern requires loose tension so that the placemat will lay flat. If the edges of your placemat curl up, it is probably a good indication that your stitches are too tight.

The CH 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch, and is used to key the edges of the placemat straight. When working in a V-Stitch from a previous row, crochet into the CH 1, instead of the space between the two DC.

Optional: Add wood beads to each corner to add a boho element to the placemat.
