Front of Body

Note: this pattern is worked from the top of the head to the bottom. You can follow the attached grid to help keep up with the color changes.
Pro Tip: Before beginning you may want to separate a portion of the body color yarn so you don’t have to cut your yarn for each color change starting in row 10.
Starting with your body color yarn
Make a slip knot and CH 14

Row 3: INC, SC 13, INC. CH 1, Turn. (17)

Assembly
The Cuddle Cat is assembled inside-out then we will flip him right-side-out once everything is attached. We will be working SC stitches in the raw edges of the body pieces to attach his arms and ears. I created what I call the “bars and holes” method when crocheting in the raw edge. You can see detailed instructions for this technique in this video.
To start, place both front and back pieces right sides together.
SC 12 up the right side making sure to go through both the front and back body pieces.
Place your first arm between the two pieces by lining up the edge with the edges of the front and back body pieces. Squishing the arm flat, SC 6, making sure to go through all three layers.

Continuing up the right side, SC 11 going through the front and back body pieces.
Place your first ear between the two pieces by lining up the edge with the edges of the front and back body pieces. SC 7 making sure to go through all three layers.

Working across the top of the cat, SC 5 going through both the front and back body pieces.
Place your second ear between the two pieces by lining up the edge with the edges of the front and back body pieces. SC 7 making sure to go through all three layers.
Working down the left side of the body, SC 11 going through both the front and back body pieces.
Place your second arm between the two pieces by lining up the edge with the edges of the front and back body pieces. Squishing the arm flat, SC 6, making sure to go through all three layers.
Working down the left side of the body, SC 12, do not tie off. (77)
Sew in any remaining tails. If you’re using safety eyes place those now. Flip the cat right side out, begin stuffing with polyfil.
After your Cuddle Cat is stuffed we need to attach the bottom piece to finish it off. The bottom piece has 58 stitches total, 29 for the front body piece and 29 for the back body piece. These stitches are not in the raw, so they’re a little easier to work with.
Center your bottom piece with the front and back body pieces then SC 58 being sure to go through the bottom piece and the correlating body piece at the same time.

Tack your heart to the cat paws then sew in your tails.
Embroider the cat’s nose and snoot line.
Ta-Da! You’ve finished your Crochet Cuddle Cat! Don’t forget to try out the other Crochet Cuddle Cat grids (found below) to create a group of adorable little cuddly friends!
I hope you enjoyed this pattern as much as I enjoyed writing it. I can’t wait to see your finished pieces.
