This crochet twisted headband pattern comes in 3 sizes.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Bobble: *yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on your hook* Repeat 3 more times. Now you should have 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on your hook. (do not chain after this, just go straight into your next stitch)

HDC in the Camel Hump: Stitch is just a regular half double crochet, the only difference is the placement of the stitch. This will be explained within the pattern.

Foundation HDC: Chain 2. YO, insert your hook into the first CH space, YO, pull up a loop. YO, pull through 1 (this is where you will insert your hook for the second stitch). YO, pull through all three loops on your hook.

YO, insert your hook into the CH space you made while making the first stitch. YO, pull up a loop. YO, pull through 1 (this is where you will insert your hook for the third stitch). YO, pull through all three loops on your hook. Repeat until you have the desired amount of stitches.

With your H 5.0mm crochet hook, make a slip knot.

Row 1: Foundation Half Double Crochet 57 (child- 53. Toddler- 49.) CH 1. Turn your work. (A 57, C 53, T 49)

This is explained under special stitches. If you need extra help, please refer to the video that goes with this post.

Row 2: SC 7, *Bobble, SC* across for 43 total stitches. SC 7. CH 1. Turn your work. (A 57, C 53, T 49)

For the child and toddler sizes you SC 5 at the beginning and end of each row instead of 7 like the adult size.

Row 3: HDC across. CH 1. Turn your work. (A 57, C 53, T 49)

Row 4: HDC in the camel hump across. CH 1. Turn your work. (A 57, C 53, T 49)

To find the camel hump, rotate your work forward (away from you) and locate the loop just under the “v” where you normally put your hook. YO, insert your hook into that loop, in the bottom out the top. This will push your “v” loops towards the right-side of your headband (where the bobble stitches pop out) creating a knit-like texture. Place your HDC there.

This is explained in detail in the video that goes with this post.

Creating the twist

Pull up a long loop just so you can set your hook down without your work unraveling.

Fold both ends of your work in half, hot dog style, where the bobble stitches are touching each other.

Then kinda sandwich them together.

You’re making a sort of zig-zag with the 4 ends of your headband.

This is much easier to explain in the video so if it’s confusing to you be sure to check that out.

Use a clip of some kind to hold your work in the sandwiched position.

Your working yarn should be in the top right corner now. Insert your hook back into the loop you left on your working yarn.

Now we are going to slip stitch the raw edges of our sandwiched ends all together. You will need to make your own spaces for your hook to go since this is the raw edge of our work.

Insert your hook through all 4 walls of our zig-zag sandwich, YO, pull through all the stitches and the loop on your hook for one SL ST.

Insert your hook into the next space, going through all 4 walls again, YO, and pull through all the stitches and loops on your hook. That’s your second SL ST.

Continue to slip stitch the ends together, all the way across your zig-zag sandwich.

Secure the end by tying off. Sew in your tails. Flip your headband right side out and TA-DAY Boho Bobble Twist Headband!!!
