Assembly
Now it’s time to assemble your crochet pencil gift holder together.
If you need help refer to the video that goes with this pattern.
Set your pieces up so that the right sides are facing out and the wrong sides are touching.
Lining up your top four stitches of each piece.
Using the yarn still attached to your top back piece, insert your hook through the 1st single crochet st of the front piece, going through the same stitch on the top back piece. Create a Chain 1 to attach the pieces together.
SC 2 stitches together in the first SC space where you just joined.
SC in the next 2 spaces.
SC two stitches together in the 4th stitch on the top of your work.
Now we will be working downward along the left-hand side of our pencil. SC 3 stitches still using the Dark Gray yarn. Be sure to go through the front and back pieces at the same time.
Since we are working on the raw side of our work, you’ll have to make your own spots for your hook to go.
Before completing the last Dark Gray SC, switch to your Linen yarn.
SC 2 stitches with your Linen yarn. Before completing the last Linen SC, switch to your Yellow yarn.
SC 4 stitches using the Yellow yarn.
Now we are going to grab our bottom-back piece.
SC the next 4 stitches going through all 3 pieces of your Crafty Pencil Pocket.
SC the next 4 stitches going through all 3 pieces of your Crafty Pencil Pocket.
SC 2 more stitches with your Yellow yarn, this time going through the front and the bottom-back pieces only.
Before completing the last Dark Gray SC, switch to your Light Gray yarn.
SC 2 stitches.
Before completing the last Light Gray SC, switch to your Pink yarn.
SC 3 stitches.
Now we are the bottom corner of our Crafty Pencil Pocket. Place 2 SC in the top of the first stitch.
SC across 8 stitches.
Place 2 SC in the last stitch (in the other corner of your pencil pocket).
Now we are going to go back up the other side. This is just like the first side but in the reverse order.
SC 3 stitches with the Pink.
SC 2 stitches with the Light Gray.
SC 2 stitches with the Yellow.
Going through all 3 pieces of your pencil, SC 4 stitches with Yellow
Going through just the top piece and the top-back piece, SC 4 stitches with Yellow.
